The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Stephen R. Covey

Habit 1: Be Proactive

"Habit 1 is the key to unlocking all the other habits and that's why it comes first. It says,"I am the captain of my life. I choose my attitude. I'm responsible for my own happiness or unhappiness. I am in the driver's seat of my destiny, not just a passenger."

Reflection:
Being proactive is something we all should do especially when we are the ones incharge of being proactive. It's all about us and the ways we want thing to go...our own control. You make yourself and be who you want to be. You choose your way in life and you make it your life. Your the one in charge and if there's any problems then you, yourself know how to solve it. Its like an emotion...you cry but you yourself know how to stop. This is a habit we learn  and according to Stephen we are the driver not the passenger. Pretty much being proactive is getting to know who you are...getting to know yourself and theirs also planning and other stuff included.

“I do what makes me happy, I do what makes me mad, I do things my way because in the end I'm the one in charge of me!”  - Anonymous

Habit 2. Begin with the End in Mind

"Control your own destiny or someone else will." (Jack Welch) "When you know where you intend to end up, you know where you are now." (Covery)
Reflection:

I'm in charge, you're in charge, they are in charge of their own destiny. You are the one that creates your path and where you end up is up to you. It's steps in life where your ready to move...you're ready to grow up and find the things you really want to do. Its like how we started as kids till now but we have to make an effort to it. Whether we make a mistake or not it will change your path but it's ok because that's how life is. Your goal is to achieve your final goal like mine is becoming a great pediatrician and to achieve it is by thinking...how am i going to get there? Its not going to be simple but what matters is how I'll get there. No one is going to tell me how because this is my way to get there.

“You're the one who writes your own story...you're the one taking yourself somewhere...you're in control of your own destiny!”  - Anonymous

Habit 3: Put First Things First

"Organize and execute around priorities."

Reflection:

Organizing is very important...it involves everything...and lets you put things first and your way. It helps you control many things and it helps you save time and get around. You'll be able to do things quick like working...if your organized you'll be able to turn in the assignment with no stuggle at all because you won't be looking for the things you need since you have them all infront of you and you'll be able to do it faster. You put your organization first and you were able to turn in your assignment next and then a grade was given and then a feeling of awesomeness because you did an amazing job thanks to being organized...you made organizing come first and were able to do the rest with no stress.

"First organize the inner, then organize the outer...first organize the great, then organize the small. First organize yourself, and the organize all!" - Anonymous

Habit 4: Think Win-Win

"Think win-win or no deal."

Reflection:

Winning and losing are two different things but in mind you always have to think we have to win! Even if you end up losing...your mind was filled with winning. It's like in a game...you feel motivated and positive that you will win when you start

“If you think you can win, you can win...it's is neither your way or my way but better way.”  - Anonymous

Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, then to be Understood

"Diagnose before you prescribe."

Reflection:

Seek first to understand is like listening...just listen to what's around you, hear what's happening. Then to be understood is to talk...say what you have to say about what you heard...to say what's in your mind. Its like listen to someone's point of view then say your point of view just like in a discussion. You can also provide feed back to the person who spoke because you were paying attention to what they had to say...you were focused on them rather than speaking over them. Its like waiting in like...if your patient you'll get to the front of the line but if your not and cut through...you'll most like will get caught and be sent in back of the line which made a farther distance than where you started at. When your listening to someone...look at their body language, use your eyes, look at their facial expression. Then you''l notice that others do the same when you are the one speaking. This will also help you gain feed back to help the person that was speaking or you can gain feedback. This way is a very useful way and a skill that will be used for your entire life.

“Listen first, then speak.”  - Anonymous

Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw

The Four Dimensions of Self-Renewal: Physical, Mental, Spiritual, Social/Emotional

Reflection:

Self-renewal is very difficult to do because its build up of your physical, mental, spiritual, and social/emotional self. It takes time and alot of effort to do so but once your there youll realise it and things will be easy from that point on just like a paradise. These four dimensions depend on themselves and if one falls then everything else does as well so you have to make sure you balance them all well but you have to balance them out wisely. We also have to make time to sharpen the saw which is the four dimensions because its an investment about ourselves. Its just like a cycle in our lives.

“As part of our renewal - we need to fight problems, not just wait for them to take place.”  - Nong Duc Manh

Blog?
So our teacher asked us to make a post where we talk about ourselves, which includes what's on my mind, or what I did today, just anything in particular that involves myself. But to be honest...I don't even know what to write...I'm so sleepy and tired and can't focus. Either way i don't have anything to say since I'm still in school and haven't done much but work. All I'm doing right now is patiently waiting to get out of school and go home. Go home and eat my mom's delicious food, watch anime or kdrama and knock out for an hour or two and wake up again to do homework that I have and go back to sleep...hopefully...since I barely sleep and especially today its going to be hard to sleep since its super hot right now...literally 102`F and it's going to be hot in the night...I'm going to be melted by the end of the day...lol...my name's Lucy by the way and I'm a potatoe...this is all I can write today...I'll come back one day...pretty sure next class...and talk about something...well bye! \(^_^)z

Peake Performance Principles
“The Six Attitudes of High Achievers”

John R. Noe

“The Six Attitudes of High Achievers”

 High Achievers…..
  1. Make no small plans

Did you make a plan today? A plan to eat lunch with friends, or a emergency plan for tomorrow, or even a plan for the future? But is it a small plan…or is it a big plan? This can refer to an important plan or not or is it a good plan or not? There are so many ways that you can describe a plan but will you be willing to complete them?

“Make no little plans…make big plans, aim high in hope and work.”  - Daniel H. Burnham

2. Do what they fear

What is fear to you? There are many fears one can have and can face but not everyone has the same fear. But when it come to achieving something...one can be that fear. It can be a good type of fear or a bad type of fear...it just depends on how your going to put it. You can be a good type of fear which includes you being on the top, being an overall top student or being the top worker at you job which causes the people around you to be like "Wow! They do that much!". If thats no a side you have chosen then it must of been the bad type of fear which doesn't awlways include you.

“ People fear what they don’t understand and hate what they cannot conquer. ”  - Rashida Rowe

3. Are willing to prepare
In life we learn to always be prepared…whether it’s for an emergency or a test or an event coming up…we always plan and prepare for it. In some occasions it hard to prepare and in others it’s not but we all get a final result after it. Take an emergency for example, if you’re prepared for it then nothing will go wrong but if you’re not prepared…well…everything goes wrong and your life is possibly at stake. Maybe a test is coming up and you have to prepare for it so you can get a good score…you can either study to be prepared and get a passing grade or don’t study at all which leads to you getting a bad score which affects your grade and prevents you from passing the class. One of the most important preparations in life is life itself.  Preparing yourself to what’s coming to you and preparing you for the real world which includes everything around you. Take school, elementary prepares you for middle school, middle school prepares you for high school, and high school prepares you for college and the real would you’re going to face. Take your parents, they prepare you for the way you’re going to live and how they won’t always be by your side and how you are going to teach your family how it will be. It’s all a cycle where preparation is one of the keys to life and it’s something you’re going to do every day!

“Everything you are going thru, is preparing you for what you are asked for” -Anonymous

4. Are willing to risk failure
In life there with be many obstacles and with those obstacles comes achieving and failing. When we achieve something we feel good about it…it gives us this positive vibe but what about failure…? Failure can leave us with negative vibes and with that it can bring us down but…it can also help us learn. Helps us understand that yes we failed but what can I do to make it better next time and succeed. Are you willing to take the chance to do that or are you going to give up and let that failure get the best of you…? In my opinion I rather learn and achieve next time or maybe even improve if it’s not possible. There are some people who don’t believe in failure because they “never” experienced it before or aren’t willing to accept it...but do you think they are ready for the failure that will soon enough catch up to them? Let’s take slavery as an example. Didn’t blacks risk their lives to get theirs rights? Didn’t they have to wait so many years to just achieve one thing? Did they succeed at first?…NO…of course not because they were inferior to whites…but did that stop them?! They failed and failed but they never gave up and in the end after sweat, tears, pain, and suffering they went through…THEY FINALLY ACHIEVED WHAT THEY WANTED!!! This teaches us that if we fail or take a risk to failure…we will succeed no matter what. It might take time but you’ll get there very soon! :)

“Without exposure to potential failure, there is no risk.” –Brennan Manning

5. Are teachable
Being teachable includes many roles in our society.

“If you want to succeed in your career, business, marriage, parenting or life, you have to be teachable!” –Anonymous

 6. Have heart
We all have a heart that pumps blood and oxygen to our body but there is a meaning to having a heart which in this case not literal. It’s more like have heart in something…have meaning in something. Like having heart to something you like, for example drawing, playing an instrument or having passion for something. There’s also having heart on others like helping. You see someone carrying a lot of groceries by themselves so you go and help them, that’s having heart toward others.

“When you have a good heart: you help, you trust, you give, you love, and always do good!” –Anonymous

Final Reflection:
Write an overall final reflection in this post regarding the 6 Attitudes of High Achievers. Include your deepest thoughts and feelings. Write what you commit to do about the 6 Attitudes to make yourself a better person and become a HIGH ACHIEVER.
The 6 attitudes was something nice to write about and very inspirational. We were able to see that we should never start with small plans because it won't give us enough toi do...we need bigger paln which will last longer. We learned about what makes other people fear in a good way like over achieving, working your best to be on top and showing other that,"Wow...they did all that!" There was also willing to prepare which involves everything even the most unexpected things. Then there came willing to risk for failure which include the you not being perfect which involves you failing something but you learn from that. Teachable was another where eveyone or anything can teach and learn from that and can help you grow in mind. The final was having heart...which in my opinion wins all, where having heart counts and gets you anywhere! So follow the 6 attitudes in your way and find the most important to you to get you anywhere!
